About Knodor — society management software for residential communities

Our mission

Residential societies in Kenya have long relied on a patchwork of WhatsApp groups, printed notice boards, paper visitor logs and spreadsheets. Information slips through the cracks, the same question gets answered ten times, and there is no single place to see what is happening in the community. Knodor exists to fix that by giving every society one shared record that the gate, the office and every resident can trust.

We believe a society runs better when a guard at the gate, a manager in the office and a parent at home all see the same information at the same time. That is the whole idea behind Knodor: knock on door — a connected community where nothing important is lost in a chat thread.

What Knodor connects

Knodor brings the three pillars of society life into a single platform:

• The gate — visitor pre-approval, QR gate passes, guard check-in, delivery tracking and an incident log, so security stops relying on a paper register.
• The office — billing and payments, notices, the resident directory, a forum, polls, events, amenities booking and a helpdesk, so managers stop juggling spreadsheets and chat groups.
• The home — a resident app for paying bills, approving visitors, reading notices, raising complaints, booking amenities and reaching neighbours, so residents stop missing what matters.

One shared record

The core differentiator of Knodor is the society management app keeps one shared record for the whole community. A visitor approved by a resident is already expected when they reach the gate. A maintenance bill raised by the office is visible to the resident before they pay. A notice posted once reaches everyone, not just whoever happens to be in the right WhatsApp group. When the gate, the office and the home read from the same record, societies spend less time chasing information and more time running well.

Built in Nairobi, for Kenyan societies

Knodor is built and operated out of Nairobi, Kenya. That matters because society life here has its own rhythm — M-Pesa payments, estate security expectations, multi-society committees and communities that span a few dozen to a few thousand homes. Designing for Nairobi first means the defaults fit how Kenyan estates actually run, instead of forcing a foreign template onto them. Knodor is available on web, iOS and Android, so residents, managers and guards can use the device they already carry.

The founder

Knodor was founded in 2025 by Prateek Kumar, founder of Knodor, who set out to build a platform that treats a residential community as a single connected system rather than a set of disconnected chats. You can read more about the story and the person behind the product on the founder page.
